Rajeev Khandelwal On Sanjay Leela Bhansali: TV actor turned Bollywood actor Rajeev Khandelwal has recently revealed many big secrets related to himself in an interview. The actor spoke openly on many issues. Apart from his struggle, he also discussed the issue of casting couch.
In his interview, Rajiv also made a big revelation about famous Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Rajiv told that Sanjay Leela Bhansali had signed him for a film. He had even shot the poster. But later the film was not made.
Waited for 1 year for the film
Rajiv told that actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Vidya Balan were also a part of that film. Rajiv was desperate to work in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film. However, he waited for about a year. Later the film was shelved. During this time, due to the contract, Rajiv could not work in any other project.
In an interview to Siddharth Kannan, Rajeev said, ‘He (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) signed me for a film called Chenab Gandhi and kept me with him for nine months almost a year but the film never got made. Since I was bound by the contract, I could not do anything else. As soon as this chapter ended, I ‘faced the truth’.
I was kept in the dark
The actor further said, ‘After Aamir (film), I wanted to do projects that had life in them. If they did not succeed, I moved on. The sad thing was that I was kept in the dark. I moved on. There was no depression. There was no complaint. I felt that my time was being wasted, it has been a year’.
Bhansali had no answer
Rajiv neither blamed Bhansali nor held him responsible for his career. But Rajiv said that Bhansali had no answer. The actor said, ‘It is not like he said that he will keep me with him for a year and ruin my career. I am sure he had no selfish motive. It was not done intentionally. It may be due to funding or some other reason, but he had no answer to this’.
Rajeev faced the casting couch
Rajeev has also faced casting couch in the industry. In the same interview, he told that a famous producer told him that he likes him. The actor showed him his middle finger and left. The actor said, ‘I did not make any scene or anything, but I showed him the middle finger and left’. Siddharth further asked Rajeev whether that person is famous, to which Rajeev replied, ‘Yes’. Rajeev told that the producer told me, ‘I have just given a 100 crore hit, you are telling me ‘no’?’
The producer said- I like you
Rajiv further said that he wanted to do a film with me but was not telling me the script. The actor said, ‘He did not show me the script, but insisted on singing a song for me. Imagine you are sitting in front of someone who is telling you, ‘I was told that you are a very handsome man, but I don’t think so. But there is something very masculine in you’. I got the hint. He asked if I wanted to do his film, but I told him that I have to see the script first. He said, ‘I don’t give my script to anyone, but I like you, so I will sing a song for you’.
